Heartland Therapeutic Riding, Inc.

Heartland Therapeutic Riding provides equine-assisted therapy through the movement of and human interaction with the horse. Early intervention hippotherapy is provided for special needs children by a physical or an occupational therapist. Therapeutic sports riding is available for children and adults with disabilities. It is taught by North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA)-certified instructors. Both programs utilize motor planning, cognitive planning, and sensory integration in the design and implementation of each class session.

  Mission Valley Hunt Club

Fox hunting has been a popular sport among Kansas City's wealthy since the early 1900's. The Mission Valley Hunt Club held its first hunt in 1927. A clubhouse and kennels were maintained on property near 83rd and Mission Road until 1936. Currently you will find the hunt still very active in Louisburg, KS.

Mission Valley Pony Club operates out of White Fox Manor at 170th and Lackman. Their mission is to provide instruction in riding and horsemanship in a safe and fun environment. The promotion of good sportmanship and help each pony clubber develop into a well-rounded, self-disciplined and respoonsible citizen. To support the United States Pony Club concept of a happy rider on a happy pony.

In 1981, nine horsemen and women created the Northeast Kansas Hunter Association (NKHA), which sanctions hunter horse shows for riders of all ages and all levels of experience. The circuit was designed to provide a fun, educational experience for riders in a hunter ring.
